Messaggio: | Official statement from Lawless: "It has been a pleasure working alongside Chef Dirk Flanigan at The Gage and Henri for the past six years. He was instrumental to the success of both restaurants, and we are grateful for his immeasurable contributions. We wish him nothing but the best. Both restaurants are filled with immense culinary talent who will oversee the kitchens at this time. Our chefs have consistently impressed us, and our guests, with their skillful cooking and devotion to their craft. We are confident that under their care, The Gage and Henri will continue to flourish." Official statement from Flanigan: "I have worked hard to build The Gage for the past six years and Henri for the past two years. I am very proud of both restaurants. I have decided it's time for me to branch out on my own and open a restaurant for my family. My sous chefs have done a great job and I will miss them. The oven is hot and it's time." This is the second key departure for the Gage/Henri restaurants; top sommelier Shebnem Ince recently departed for Perman Wine Selections, though Lawless quickly named a replacement in Jason Wagner (ex-, RM Champagne Salon). Lawless already has elevated Chris Gawronski as Henri's executive chef; Gawronski has been at Henri for two years, the last six months as chef de cuisine. Still to come: Exec chefs (or one hard-working exec chef) for The Gage, Henri and his as-yet-unnamed casual-American restaurant opening later this year on Grand Avenue (in the former Orange space). "Dirk was more than a colleague; he is a friend," Lawless said. "It was a professional and honorable parting, and I wish him the best." {keyword} |

Messaggio: | The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Ryan was let go after the Cowboys missed the postseason for a third consecutive year. His firing ends a two-year tenure with the team. Under Ryan's tutelage, the Cowboys ranked among the league's top 20 total defenses, placing 14th in 2011 but slipping to 19th in 2012, perhaps in large part as a result of injuries to many of Dallas' key defensive players. Ryan becomes the second casualty of the Cowboys' coaching staff. Running backs coach Skip Peete was fired on Monday. |

Messaggio: | The latter rule would demand science- and risk-based standards at fruit and vegetable farms and packing facilities. The were a long time coming one of them 12 months behind the date mandated by , according to food safety advocates. The agency said the lag was due to extensive outreach to consumers and industry members necessary for effective rules. The policies stem from the Food Safety Modernization Act, which signed into law two years ago and is widely recognized as the most sweeping reform of its kind in more than seven decades. The new law should transform the FDA from an agency that tracks down outbreaks after the fact, to an agency focused on preventing food contamination in the first place, said Caroline Smith DeWaal, food safety director at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, .Recalls and outbreaks we Jackets Dark Grey re rampant in recent years. The FDA temporarily shut down the New Mexico production facility of Sunland Inc. after the company s peanut butter sparked a spate of illnesses and at Trader Joe s and other retailers this fall.Last year, a multi-state linked to tainted cantaloupes . Each year, one in six Americans falls ill due to contaminated food, which leads to 140,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 fatalities, according to the FDA.The new FDA proposals will be published in the Federal Register and subjected to a 120-day public comment period. Once the final rules are approved, most food manufacturers will be expected to start complying after a year, while large farms will be given 26 months to fall into line.Smaller businesses and farms will be given additional time, according to the FDA.The FDA said it is also working on proposed safety regulations targeting imported food which constitutes 15% of what s eaten in the U.S. The agency also plans to compile standards for facilities making animal feed, which has been occasionally linked to diseases transferred from livestock to humans. We know one-size-fits-all rules won t work, said Michael R. Taylor, the agency s deputy commissioner for foods and veterinary medicine, in a statement. We ve worked to develop proposed regulations that can be both effective and practical across today s diverse food system. ALSO: |

Messaggio: | Unless Bob Ladouceur runs some misdirection - which he's been famous for the last 34 years on the gridiron - the Hall of Fame De La Salle-Concord football coach is about to step away from the legendary program that he built. On Thursday, the school announced a news conference at 3 p.m. Friday with Ladouceur at the centerpiece to discuss "the future of De La Salle football." There appears no reason why the understated Ladouceur - who hates to bring attention to himself - to call a news conference to announce that he's staying. Ladouceur has never been about the numbers, though they've certainly helped define him, and why a book was written about the program - "When the Game Stands Tall" - and why a Hollywood movie based on the book is in the planning stages. -- De La Salle has appeared in all state bowl championships (winning five) and has captured 28 NCS titles, the past 21 consecutively. Ladouceur's successor, by all indications, is offensive line coach Justin Alumbaugh, a former De La Salle player who has been on staff since 1998. De La Salle will almost assuredly keep the entire core of coaches who helped Ladouceur build the dynasty, including 28-year assistant and defensive coordinator Eidson. Thu, 3 Jan 2013 23:49:05 UT |
